and life (as I'm a 44 yo single man) if I were to seek an Accounts Receivable, Credit and Collections position for which I have several years experience (BTW: I'm in the Accounting support field for those who don't know) anywhere in the Connecticut or Philly job markets verses staying in the Northern NJ/NYC job market???

Please be frank with me without the possible wisecracks(lol!) .

Thanks so much!

Why would you think you would be making a mistake? The pay might not be the same but your living expenses wouldn't be either providing you keep a similar lifestyle.
Especially as a single person, you're not putting a family at risk, mouths to feed, uprooting kids in schools etc.
You can always move back if your not happy.
Some of the biggest mistakes people make in life is not taking risks. Go for it!

I'm not sure I understand your dilemma. Do you think there aren't as many opportunities in Conn or Penn as there are in NY or NJ? Less pay? If that's the case, I don't believe that's true. I think you have just as many prospects in those places as you do in NY/NJ.
I second what NYTom said. You are single and don't have to worry about supporting a family so you are in the best position to try something out. If it doesn't work out, you are free to get up and move and start elsewhere. If you think you'll be happier in Conn or Philly, then try it. What have you got to lose?
