I figured as much with the old school look, seems like the retro look will never die out. Trust me when I say that I fully understand the heating benefits of a good radiator. I just don't understand the point of an ugly, large, constantly boiling hot cast iron radiator taking up space in your nicely renovated room.

I have found a few different variants to these radiators, and ofcourse with the 21st century, comes 21st century radiators. Aluminum bi-metal radiators are made from aluminum body with a steel core. These radiators not only look clean, smaller, and more elegant, but they also give out two times more heat than cast iron.

Would you guys still install cast iron, when these run with higher btu for both steam and hydronic heating?

I agree with the concerns for pollen and other allergens when running a ventilation system. I have a hydronic heating system based on PEX to heat my home. Nothing beats heated floors in the morning.

I dunno - some of those cast iron radiators are masterpieces. People have them sanded down and re-painted and they become a feature.

Having said that, the one you pictured looks ok.
