Target signs lease for lower Manhattan store | New York Post

Target is opening up three new stores by next year in Tribeca, Forest Hills, and Brooklyn. Nice to see Downtown finally get a Target as well.

Target is *Walmart* with lipstick. *LOL*

Importantly to the point is large chains like Target are moving into the void as so many smaller various businesses fail and or are pushed out by high rents.

Target like CVS, Duane Read, Walgreens etc... is a bit of everything. You can get clothing but also groceries which is the sort of "one stop shopping" things seem to be moving to these days.

The Target in Forest Hills replaces a Barnes & Nobles store which local residents are sad to see closing down.

Most people love Target for whatever reason. They were doing "big box" before it became a cliche.

They love Target because it isn't Wal-Mart.
Same business model, same anti-union strong-arming.
Same low wages, fiscally driven employee schedules, store products made in poor labor factories overseas.

Cleaner, better employees, very outspoken about their corporate giving, good relationship with Starbucks.... so everyone brushes them off.

I shop at both, but I don't for a second pretend they're not the same concept in and out.
