I'm sure it can be done. My quality of life would probably not be the greatest though.

Blm650, is the job full time? Do they offer any overtime?

But yes, it can be done (if full time). You would obviously have to get a roommate/roommates. Try to stay under $900 per month for your room, and that includes when yall split the utilitiy bills. You may have to get a 2nd job if you plan on saving money because the rest of your $ outside of rent/utilities will go for other bills such as groceries/cell phone/shopping/eating out/fun.

You could if you don't mind living uptown and about a 25-30 minute train ride from midtown.

It could be done with roommates in certain areas, easier if you're living with a gf/bf or married with combined income.

You would qualify to apply for an apartment in an 80/20 building! Check out the lotteries at NYC Housing Connect if interested.

There's a difference between "can be done" and "can be done by a newcomer with no other means of support besides the $15 per hour."

Sure, there are plenty of people doing it, but they may have subsidized housing such as rent control or lottery housing, or be living with family, etc.

Being a newcomer to NYC means you start with scratch with housing, and when you're only making $30,000 a year, you don't have very many viable options, especially in Manhattan. Maybe you could make do in Staten Island or the Bronx.

Doable, but you'll need a roommate. It's only around $31k/yr if you can give enough proof to a landlord.

Honestly why bother? You wouldn't be able to enjoy anything Manhattan has to offer on that income.
