Gun deaths map: How many people have died or been injured in shootings around you?

Seems pretty accurate. Most shootings in the Bronx occur south of E 198th street, and west of the Bronx River.

Well, not cool obviously. But a useful map for those who come on here asking for how safe an area is. Shootings are not cool and should not be glorified.

I saw something similar to this a few months ago. This tool is alright, but if one is scared of being a victim of a crime, this map can be useful. This link should be added to safety maps thread. This map will be useless in a few. I wonder if Tim cook is going to put gun shot sensors in the next iPhone. You should email him SuperMario. No joke man. Safety is a virtue.

My god, have you seen Chicago's map? Holy crap. Literally thousands of shootings. NYC pales in comparison.

I think so. In the Bronx, there are areas like Throggs Neck and Riverdale that have had no shootings, then you compare those to Tremont and Morrisania, and it's a whole different world.

My neighborhood has only one shooting---a suicide. And that one I remember because it was a police officer and he shot himself at home pretty close to where I am.

My old block in University Heights had two shootings resulting in 2 murders. One was gang related. It's a small block too, mind you. That block needs some serious help.

I wonder why the nypd includes all other crime statistics but shootings in the NYC crime map. Shootings are great in determining the safety of an area. It signifies an underlying issue, either gangs or drug dealing, because most shootings are not random. Shootings usually are a result of the aforementioned issues.
