Hi. We're going into the city today and a friend said there's not much happening at the SSSeaport because of lots of construction? Is that so? Is it worth the trip there?

ALSO, can we take one or two busses with $2.75 in quarters or do we need a metro card?

THANKS

There are still several stores, the South Street Seaport museum and it's a nice walk to the financial district and Chinatown. It's a bit deserted since it is under construction due to Hurricane....Sandy, I think? But it's one of my favorite places to get lost.
You can take two buses if you are in Manhattan with quarters, but you must ask for a transfer immediately. Alternatively, you can also just take a A, C, 2, 3, 4, 5 train to Fulton Street and walk a couple of blocks to South Street Seaport. If you are planning to stay a week, I'd suggest you get an unlimited metrocard. You can use it every 20 minutes. It's a great touristy spot with views of Brooklyn buildings and you can take the free IKEA ferry into Brooklyn at Pier 12 on the weekends ($5 on weekdays). I'd recommend swinging by over there and then walking on the Brooklyn Bridge.

For $2.75 in coins you can get on a bus and ask for a paper transfer to a second bus.
