I have heard this as well - it does not impact me so much, actually not at all, but I do also hear these stories.

Quality-of-life is poor given that things are growing worse economically for everyone except the wealthy. Many people, poorly educated, are doing what such people often do - blaming the guy directly below, usually a subsidy recipient of some sort, and perhaps, the guy just above. Whereas the actual problem is much higher than that and they are laughing all the way to the bank reading some of these people here. Trust me.

Why is this rocket science-level wisdom for people.

Just take the opportunity for amusement that anyone could actually believe the media tells anything "as it is."

Hint: They always support Donald Trump as well, but there are plenty of news consumers on the other side.

And be glad that you know better.

Bill de Boob and the CC do not care nor are worried about either the very wealthy or much of the middle class. They are taking care of their peeps who voted them into office (poor, immigrants, progressives, party line democrats, etc....). You only have to look at the various policies enacted by this mayor and CC to see where their priorities lie. This is why de Boob is running those adverts praising his freezing RS rents and so forth.

Truth to tell the vast middle and good part of the upper classes do not vote in NYC elections. That is how de Boob and company got into office in the first place. Next harsh truth is the old school white/conservative base that got Rudy G. and even Bloomberg into office is either dying off, moving away or just don't vote. Again look who turned out to get the current mayor into office.

New Yorkers run their mouths about this or that mayor and or what is going on politically, but that is all they do by and large. Just look at how angry so many were about Bloomberg and Quinn changing term limits. Yet Bloomberg *won* that third term largely because of low voter turnout. Had just bit more voted things would have been different.

There is no such thing as a politician who does not care about wealthy interests. De Blasio has allowed huge amounts of low income housing to be sold to developers and institutional investors. Indeed he met with these CEOs before even being elected. Of course he deals with them and gives out huge concessions. Any politician can be bought which is why people who rant about liberal
Versus conservative are ridiculously naive. Immigrants and other poor people are still being gentrified out of NYC so not sure about de Blasio is taking care of them.

Of course, it's all a part of the whole thing.

Recdall the central theme of de blasio's inauguration ceremony... His focus is not quality of life but getting rid of the "plantation".

No way in the world can one man destroy NYC in two years. That's just foolish. There were underlying issues such as the homeless population that were not properly dealt with under Bloombergs administration. Bill seems to be very proactive with addressing these issues, but we as residents gotta learn one man can't do everything overnight. He seems to be squaring away the poor so there's no excuse. They either have housing or a shelter to relocate to. Bill needs to work on strengthening partnerships and relationships with major entities such as real estate, sanitation, police, NYCHA and other departments that have to report to him. That's where he lacks.

This is the bizarrely odd thing from people. While Bloomberg's fortune grew by something like $ 22 billion - not grew to, but grew larger by that amount - in less than ten years, in the same period the homeless population grew by 60% or something, indicating that not everyone was doing as well.

Both indicate fundamental problems, and ones that are not really mitigated by "bike lanes" or whatever else.

I am not such a big de Blasio fan but I am definitely smart enough to realize that blaming him for this inheritance could be a rather short-sighted, to say the very least.
