After the first couple days you just didn't turn on your tv.

I'm glad I wasn't working in television at that time.

I lost people AND worked in PR. I just couldn't get away from it for a minute.

Yeah, it's been fourteen years since 9/11 happened and yet Americans are still talking about the attacks. I know they do that to honor their friends or family members, but I don't think it's helping them that much. Plus, I was only a goddamn baby when it happened, so I didn't really remember anything during the attacks.

I remember having to walk from 57th and Lex to Canal St, so I had to walk towards it. Manhattan looked like Beirut with all of the tanks rolling up the street, military everywhere and people covered in dust looking shell shocked. I missed my bus by seconds, if I had caught it, I would have been under the tower when the first plane hit. My brother and SIL were on the flight that crashed in PA the day before. My ex worked in the lobby of 1 WTC.

Now I work 3 blocks from WTC. Hubby and I went to the observation deck shortly after it opened, and I started crying. I was remembering the last time I was up there was at Windows On The World watching my friend's band play around 2000. It was just overwhelming for some reason. I still have mixed feelings when I see tourists taking smiling selfies at the site.

There was talks of not doing the memorial service anymore. Considering this year will be 15 years, I'm guessing maybe this year will be the last time they do it.
