I moved to New York about four years ago, and almost everything is faster/more convenient/more efficient than in southern California, where I'm originally from.

And yet! Somehow the one-hour dry cleaning/martinizing that was everywhere in CA has been impossible for me to find here. Lots of places come up on Yelp in a "one hour cleaners" search, but when I call none of them offer it. I assume rent prices mean very few places can afford to do it on-site, and sending it out means it will take longer than an hour.

But SOMEWHERE in Manhattan or Brooklyn there must be at least one place set up for this. Do you know of a one hour place in either Manhattan or Brooklyn?

Don't know about one hour but places on the UES will have same day service if you get things in by a certain time in AM.

Think one hour service died out in Manhattan as many places began to outsource their work. That and the store functions mainly as drop off and work is taken to central plants elsewhere. Most of the large chain dry cleaners such as Hallak use this system.

The other thing is efficiency; no one is going to fire up a DC machines for just a small load.
