I still go to shows, much less than the college/post college days. St Vitus is actually a pretty solid place for a show
Great places. One of my first concerts was at Wetlands. Saw Seven Mary Three and was practicality on the stage I was so close. I was curious about St. Vitus as there was a show last year I heard about after the fact and was wondering how that venue was. Glad you mentioned it here.

Just turned 38 and I remember CBGB was my go to spot for underground hip hop and rnb. Nuyorican was second and does different stuff from music to plays. There used to be a lot of places you can go but the underground hip hop scene in Manhattan was live in the mid to late 90's for the most part. Even early 2000's there were places to go.

I was just thinking about this subject and need to get back to finding music spots again. Phatbeats was a good music store around 8th street not far from the basketball cages. That was my 411 spot when I needed to find out where all the events are happening in the city. But moved to Brooklyn unfortunately
