During the 80's I got in a fist fight at a korean deli over 10 cents. I purchased a cup of tea and the guy wanted to charge me 10 cents for a wedge of lemon. I went off and trashed the stuff he had near the register. Once I stepped outside he chased after me.

Happened on 8th Street.

There are people who get killed pretty frequently over road rage ($0) just out of anger. So I wouldn't say the killing was over $1. It was more likely out of anger similar to road rage.

I'm not surprised at all, I'm surprised the man offered one dollar for the metro swipe. Usually they're at the stations asking for a
free swipe. Some people give the free swipe, others don't. I never give a free swipe is not legal. A person can lose their metro card.
For charging or giving a free swipe.

Why I always keep a distance from and don't interact in any way, with people giving or asking for swipes.

The MTA and the NYPD really need to crack down on that practice

Mother of suspect was on local evening news wailing away and saying her son should "turn himself in".

Woman also said that her son was defending his daughter from the swipe guy who became aggressive after the girl refused his offer. "He must have been scared the guy was going to do something to her..... you know they've got these men slashing females on trains..." was the rest of her interview.

So many last names in that story...confusing as heck.

Both of the men seem like dirtbags; with extensive criminal records and all. Society is better off with both of them off the streets!
