I've noticed that you have absolutely nothing to contribute to this thread (like, say, in-person knowledge of the blocks the OP is asking about) and that all you want to do is stir up the race pot.

Ok I will play nice. It's nothing like the mid 90's when some friends of mine and I use to hang out. Nothing will happen to you unless you get scared and rattled easy like a car honk or something. You're more than likely to get robbed and assaulted in union square and especially by Columbus circle.

Enjoy the area and changing demographics to your liking, hopefully your rent is cheap.

I know this area well and it's definitely changing and has become much safer. My uncle still have a restaurant in the area and he had also owned a lounge up until February this year. He was bought out of his lease by some Jewish investors who are building condos on the site. They are buying out all the old-timers (mainly African Americans).

OP, just use common sense and beware of the hustlers and occasional crack heads.

And why should it have too? I would say that part of Williamsburg has less crime than Bed Stuy. And it has long before white transplants moved there.

That is not true. Per resident, Bed Stuy has a higher rate of robbery than the Union Square or Columbus Circle neighborhoods. And that's not even taking into consideration the much larger non-resident populations of the Manhattan areas. I don't get why people can't even admit the fact that areas such as Bed Stuy or Bushwick have higher than average crime rates for NYC. Are you race-baiters really that oblivious?
