This should be posted on the general New York forum, but that one is not very active. Hope New Yorkers from Long Island and upstate also take the poll.

I voted NO but if there was some kind of a in-between answer like partially a native New Yorker, I would have voted yes. While not native New Yorkers, the Clintons have been living in Westchester County for a while now.

But I still think it was strange how the Clintons just abandoned Arkansas after the Presidency. And they could just as easily abandon New York if they felt they could make more money elsewhere, say in California.

I voted "yes". Lots of people move to new cities, to new counties, to new states, and even to new countries and put down roots there all the time, so why should they be straight-jacketed into being forced into allegiance to a city/county/state/country that they left years ago? I was born in Buffalo and lived there, as a child and as a young adult, for a total of about 25 years, but I don't consider that my "hometown". That's Jamestown where I live now. I've only lived here 18 years, which is only a fraction of my adult life, but most people think I've lived here most of my adult life because this is where I've put down my roots. It's my "hometown".

As for the Clintons, why is it "strange" that they abandoned Arkansas? First of all, if you could afford to live just about anywhere, why would you pick Little Rock, AR over Manhattan? More importantly, the Clintons haven't actually lived in Arkanasas since maybe 1994-1996 or so, certainly well before Bill left office IIRC. They bought a house in Westchester; I think First Dog Buddy was banished there and met his demise by running out in the road.

FTR, I believe that Hillary is originally from Chicago and hasn't lived there since she married.

I voted 'no'. The Clinton move to NY was purely for political/financial gain. See 'carpetbagger'.

Hillary Clinton ran for Senate position in 2000 as a NYer. She won in November 2000. Bill Clinton's last day in office was January 20, 2001.

Agreed. They moved to NY just so Hillary could run for Senate here. It was obvious. They are not New Yorkers.
Agreed also they would move somewhere else if it meant political gain for them.

That about sums it up. She's used NY and New Yorkers for all we're worth and like a locust will move on to somewhere else if she has to.

Bernie was born in Brooklyn, hillary wasn't.

You can claim a home state every time you qualify for residency. So what's the question?

Nope.

When has she ever worked or lived here outside the Senate?

I still don't know how she even became Senator here, my only guess is through her political connections.
