Try Cup & Saucer at 89 Canal Street or any diner. Forget about Starbucks. At a diner you can always get free refills and maybe a smile. Leave a nice tip. They will remember you. Don't forget Dunkin Donuts.

Just get a nespresso machine. A lot of people in the cafes are glued to their tablets anyway.

i am really bad at directions, but I really like Roasting Plant near 14th Street since they literally grind the beans in front of you. ironically, you can't go wrong with the chain stores of Pret. their coffee is very good. also, blue spoon coffee is very good.
