I travel from Brooklyn to New Jersey a lot for work. I do it over Verazano Bridge which is Expensive to say the least, even with an EZPass.

My question is ... going into Northern Jersey, near GWB, what's the least expensive way to and from?

Thank you!

If you have a hybrid car there is a Green EZ pass that allows you discounted tolls on the GWB etc...offpeak its $7.00 It needs to be a Port Authority EZ pass...MTA one won't work. You can also try carpooling they get a lower rate

You can pick bus commuters up on the GWB at the bus stop in your car.

Lots of people do it.

Going to NJ is free via the both Tunnels and the GWB. When you come back, you have to pay the NYC tolls to get in. There's no cheaper way than swim so you can thank Port Authority of NY for upping the tolls.

The other posters had much better ideas, but if you want to drive to a cheaper crossing, drive north and take the Tappan Zee bridge -- lower tolls, but a much longer commute.

not worth it.
minimum wage is going up to $15/hr so it is better to use the lost hour on the road to flip burgers to pay off the toll.

Port Authority is shared between the two states, the reason it's 15 or so dollars one way and free the other is probably so they didn't have to build a second set of toll booths

Take the subway to the GWB bus terminal in Washington Heights. Take NJ Transit bus over to NJ.

If you commute everyday, buy the monthly passes for both the subway and buses. Sit back, relax and let someone else deal with traffic/stress/road rage/potholes. No tolls, no gas, no car repairs, no auto insurance, no parking, no headaches.
