How many people are moving in versus people that are moving out? For example, are Blacks still moving in? And if so, where are they moving there from? If I look it up, the population has been increasing since the eighties but that doesn't really tell me much.

Probably from afro and Anglo Caribbean. If anything lots of transient blacks are making the move to nyc just like transient whites. I remember reading the nyt article that states the transient white population is growing faster in NYC and is out pacing the native white population which is on the decline in NYC.

When you say outpacing, are you talking about native White births in NYC or native Whites actually leaving the area? To put it a different way, even with the children born to the native White population in NYC there are more transients moving into the area or native Whites are leaving the area at a slower pace than transient Whites are moving into the city?

And does this change the fabric of the city, make it more "Midwestern", or this is just a different type of NYC than what we're accustomed to.

I wish I can pull up the article. I'm searching through all my posts. But I can safely assume that this is a different type of NYC that we are accustomed to.

Speaking of articles, there was an interesting one in the Times that states that the native NYC accent is disappearing. Like, you don't hear it all with native born millennials. I would expect that to be the case with transplants. But there have always been transplants, so there must be other factors at play that are the cause of this.
