These guys are worse than the Israeli army. I'm not sure what the government is going to do about this one.
There is nothing for the government to do, or can do. They are just as fraudulent, just not as competent. My point is that other likewise, but different, communities need to compete amongst them using similiar tactics.

I believe the article mentioned some kind of bribe or something like to get gun permits for people or person who will normally be rejected.
If you think that is corrupt - how about Enron telling its employees the company is still in great shape and continue to buy the company stock knowing full well the next day they would be shut down. All the time pulling their money out and selling their stock. How do you look your employees in the eyes knowing you are screwing them and destroyed their retirement.
Now that is CORRUPT. Did I forget to mention Qualcomm ? You got to love corporations that screw their own employees.
Honestly wealthy secular communities do this with the local cops too. Just look at Long Island cops, and wealthy Northern NJ boro cops. Some have wealthy secular jews or just wealthy people of all religions.

I agree. I applaud the Shomrim. To the extent that certain Shomrim members break the law, of course they should be dealt with accordingly. But this is no different from what should happen to anyone who breaks the law. All in all, I view the Shomrim as a positive force and think that more communities should follow suit.

Yes, but secular communities don't discriminate on the basis of religion or ethnicity.

This instinct toward protecting members of the community -- and the community as a whole -- is a theme that emerges in stories ultra-Orthodox sources tell about instances where the Shomrim have allegedly discouraged victims of violence or abuse at the hands of fellow Jews from reporting those crimes directly to the police, or even urged Jewish business and homeowners to withhold security footage that might implicate a Jew in a crime.
If a Gentile "neighborhood watch patrol" were to treat Gentile and Jewish suspects differently, Jews would find that "bigoted" and "scary." Well, I find the Shomrim to be bigoted and scary.
The media raked the Catholic Church over the coals because the CC protected child molesters in its ranks. Hollywood even made a major film about it, and honored it with Oscars. But note how silent the media is about ultra-Orthodox rabbis covering-up the child molesters in their midst.
Such stories are at best buried in newspapers or blogs, with one quick mention, and then quickly forgotten. No daily radio talk show reminders, or major Oscar-winning films, as when the CC is guilty.
