Has anyone used the "phone booths" that provide free calls, internet connection, WiFi, that go up Third Avenue every couple blocks.

They are touting "free WiFi" to a distance of 400 feet. If true that is a delight for the people who live near them. At the dedication, one lucky woman who DID live nearby said the first thing she was going to do was call and cancel Time Warner.

Has anyone connected via WiFi. What was your experience?

KK, I asked about this recently, but didn't get much.

I haven't tried it for Wifi, but I don't think much of it in terms of internet/telephone. It strikes me a bit like 311 - a great idea, but poorly executed.

I guess I'll drag the laptop out onto the street and see what the WiFi internet service is like.
