That's exactly what I thought. $2,600 in some states gets you a mortgage on a huge house.

That roommate, Jaime Lopez, 30, owns a software company and hails from the Canary Islands

Geez, you might think that ownership of a software company might get you your own place.

Am i missing something here because for that rent you can get your own place in one of the outer boroughs and just commute to the city.
For that rent you can get your own place in Manhattan!

I know someone with 3 roommates and one of them 'owns a software company' as well - it's a startup and he has a couple of employees. It's pretty crazy though because it's a nice building and each of them pay almost twice what I pay for a studio apartment in Hamilton Heights. I can't imagine paying around $2k/month to have 3 roommates, but different strokes I guess...

Forget the hood....$2600 gets you a studio in prime Park Slope.
It can also easily get you a (very nicely appointed) studio in South Williamsburg, rightwhere this luxury flop house is located.

So I'm genuinely perplexed here...
