With my soon to be ex our income would be too high for most housing lotteries. She moved out over the summer and divorce won't be finalized for another 6 months. What if, by some miracle, i'm called into an interview before divorce is final? We filed the latest tax returns jointly, but the next one will be separate. Who should I contact to get an answer to this situation?
If you got to the interview phase, and the divorce is not finalize, I would say you two are still consider legally married. Once you finalize everything, then I would say you need to inform the organization that interview you. You don't want to get to the point where they discover the truth later on, and they said you should have disclose it.

Yeah, I understand. I didn't apply for any of the lotteries with her since we were already living in separate households and in the application there's nothing I failed to disclose.

i think the separate households point is key. if you could established that you and your soon to be ex are living separately, then you're probably fine to proceed applying for housing as one person. sharing any pending divorce docs may be helpful too as the housing folks seem to want everything else anyway
Not to discourage you, but HPD is super strict with that. For the lottery that I'm currently in the running for, the development company asked me for my divorce papers even though I was divorced back in 2009. The reason is cause my pay stubs showed a discrepancy of my being married still. (I did not know this). They went ahead and asked not only for my divorce decree but also for IRS statements dating back to 2014. The developers didn't ask me, but I found out because I was contacted by the IRS.
On a side note, how can you qualify now after having her removed? The income that they take into consideration is the one you put down on your application. Do you now make her salary as well?
If you are just applying now for a building, the won't even close the lottery for another month or so. Then its anywhere from 6 months to several years to be called in. By that time you will have your divorce and can prove your solo income. Don't sweat the situation, especially when it hasn't even presented itself to you.
