We are hopeless newbies who will be staying in Flushing. I'm confused because when I google the LIRR it doesn't show any stops in Flushing . Do they call it something else? Assuming it doesn't go to Flushing how much of a hassle is it to transfer to the LIRR from Amtrak? .

You have Willets Point, Main st, Broadway and Auburndale that are all technically part of Flushing. The Main st stop would be downtown Flushing.

The LIRR has a stop called "Flushing-Main Street" and also other stops in and near Flushing (the Mets-Willets Point, Murray Hill and Broadway stops). These are all on the Port Washington Line of the LIRR. If you're looking at schedules for other LIRR lines, those lines don't go to Flushing.

where is your Amtrak going?

Flushing Main Street is on the Port Washington Line aka Red color.....2 stops from Penn Station. 3 stops if the Mets or US Open game days.
