LOL TY!!

It doesn't appear Phantom does rush tickets. They do a digital lottery for $28 but I don't think you know the ticket location until you pick them up at Majestic but I may be wrong.

Let's say TKTS offers you Row J orchestra seat 20, and you ask, How far over is that? And the rep will say, I don't know.

To me that's annoying. Yes, you should have the seating plan printed out or called up on your phone to combat this. Live and learn.

Also, for a complete list of rush, lottery, and other special deals, go to Broadway for Broke People.

I did standing room for PHANTOM long long ago, like the first week or two after it opened to rave reviews.
The location and sight lines was superb but for one disadvantage: The mezzanine overhang lost the impact of the falling chandelier, a trick that was all the talk at the time.

My lumbar back cannot do standing room anymore, not even for the Second Coming.

TKTS (TDF) tickets are almost always good seats. THat's the route I would go, Lamar, and I would get my ticket at Duffy Square (47th St.)

If you know someone who is a TDF Member, you can buy and print out tickets online a couple days in advance for $47 (plus a service charge, like $4 these days I think) and you will always get Orchestra or Front Mezzanine seats.

I looked into becoming a TDF member but they don't tell you your actual seat until you have bought the ticket!! I get that you may get an orchestra seat, but I've learned anything further than row N isn't a great seat and that the side orchestra seats aren't great either.

I always got great seats too. Avoiding the weekending evening shows also helps a lot.

TDF can be a crapshoot, that's true. It's really for people who aren't fussy about where they sit or are willing to take the chance.

TDF works out better for Off Broadway because those theaters are smaller.

I have respect for those who can do standing room for over 2 hours!!! I stand at work for 90 minutes a day and it's torture but at least I get to walk around.

It's not so bad at the theater because you can usually lean on the half-wall in front of you. Plus, you can find an empty seat at intermission for a rest until the owner comes back!

TDF USUALLY are good seats but that is not to say that good seats are guaranteed. I was one of the flagship TDF members when shows ran about $3.50 (yeah, I know, the mid 1970's.) In 20 or 30 years, I doubt that I got more than a very few disappointing seats out of more than 100. (Usually the disappointing seats were last row orchestra, not the back balcony.)

Yeah I think I will skip TKTS. If for $20 more I don't need to make a special trip and have more options on where to sit, I think it's smarter.
I always do that
