I didn't see a thread on this but it's been a huge story although there seems to be no indication an arrest is imminent. If there really is a sex killer out there who attacked a jogger at random then the whole community and even everyone in Queens parks are at risk. Or maybe she was targeted. The less we hear about the police investigation the more I think she was targeted.
I would think it's a crime of opportunity. The news has reported that her father typically jogs with her but didn't that day, and I don't think this would happen if she had a partner with her. Also heard on the news that there's a group of homeless people that camp out nearby. Perhaps she was targeted by one of them who saw she was alone that day.
On the one had you have an increased number of homeless men wondering lose on NYC streets. Then you have females moving into some suspect areas of the City but not thinking and or have developed street smarts. The woman who was drunk and passed out in the EV that nearly was raped is an example of that.
Am casting my vote with this sad Howard Beach incident was a crime of opportunity. That lovely young woman just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
All this being said (and am not blaming the victim) do question why she would jog through that area when her father had warned her repeatedly to avoid. That the dad went to same area and found his daughter while suspect at first glance, he does live out there and knew the jogging routes. This even if having told his daughter to avoid that area...
Strange how her father knew where the body was. I'm sure the police have questioned him in detail though.
How is it strange? That's where they ran every night and he specifically told her to not go running there alone, so naturally that'd be the first place he'd have police look.

Thanks for this bugsy. Not sure why these animals are saying "suspicious the father knew where the body was" that man must be going through a really really tough time right now. God bless the family and hopefully they find the animal that did this.
