The people putting their plastic bags curb side are doing it wrong. You're supposed to take them to a supermarket. They are supposed to accept them. The issue is some of them don't seem to have a dedicated place for plastic bags.
well then we've been doing it wrong for many MANY years. The bags have the recycle symbol with a number, so we always assumed the city recycled them. So much for that
Anyone knows where in Manhattan I can drop off used plastic bags for recycling? In the past, I was able to do that at the Whole Foods in Union Square, but it doesn't seem to be the case any more. I tried searching online, and all I found was a rather outdated list of stores from like 8 years ago (I went to a couple of the stores on that list and they were both out of business ).
Any Key Food or related stores near you? Most of them by me have the bins.
well i know about commercial waste management company in UK, as the collect plastic bags and plastic waste from companies for recycling. i am talking about Kings north waste management as they are already known for their services according to health standards.

No plastic bag collection bin at my local Key Food. (UES)
Since the City has no provision for recycling them, it just shows that the City does not take its recycling program very seriously. Just pays lip service when it ignores the worst pollution threat:
