We're planning to come into NYC next week. We want to stay in NJ overnight at a hotel with an in-room kitchenette (recommendations would be welcome). We then want to get into Manhattan to see the Statue of Liberty (among other things). A friend told my husband one way was to take a ferry from NJ into Manhattan? We don't want to drive in...
If you are already in New Jersey, there is no need to go into Manhattan to get to the Statue of Liberty; you can take the ferry (the company is called "Statue Cruises"; it is the only ferry that goes to Liberty Island) from Liberty State Park on the NJ side. However, you need to make your reservations now; you won't be able to just walk up and get tickets.
