Thank you for the support

So I'm originally from NJ so I am aware of the taxes, hard water, boring, etc... However, I'm not allowing anyone to follow my family into my building or expose themselves in broad daylight. Nor, am I accepting the live-in supervisors to tell me "Yes we know about him, there is nothing we can do." so Pee Wee Herman and other people get public attention and jail time for exposing themselves, however, anyone at The MAve is allowed to show off their disgusting jewels? Don't get it... Never will, but won't let me little ones see something they shouldn't.

So I truly appreciate the references you listed and I will consider it for sure.

Just moved out of nyc due to rising rents and wanting to own. However aside from that i LOVE nyc and wouldve stayed if i didnt have the desire to own. There is no other city like it in the world. I grew up in NYC going to nightclubs at 14 😂 Riding the train at 13, so many experiences with the city. I likemany native new yorkers love the city that raised us and made us who we are today. Iam actually glad i didnt grow up in a small low populated suburb.

Where did you move to? Must be hard to move away after growing up in the city. I actually was about to buy property elsewhere, but gave that up to move to NYC. I still want to own, but living in NYC takes priority over that...for me anyway.

I am glad that you express your feelings, as you did above.

Many people here think, that after living in NYC, and having everything at their hands, with the knowledge that NYC infringes upon you, they can go to a little honky town, and live happily-there-after. It is not that way.

I have done 48 out of 50 states: North, South, East, West, and spend considerable time on each to decipher whether I want to live on any one of them. And most of the time, I do not. We are used to a lots of choices, museums galore, foods from all over the world, the theater, concerts, and exposed to everything one can imagine. News 24/7, stores open 24/7, and exposed to the four seasons. I cannot fathom living in a hot climate 365 days, with the sun upon me 15 hours per day. And I cannot fathom listening to the stupidities of some people in those small and big towns...........

Many New Yorkers move out because they cannot longer afford to live here in a decent neighborhood. Then after moving out, they realize that they do not fit into many of these cities, or suburbs, and wish they can return back.....and I here them saying, "There is only one NYC." And they are correct.......!!!!!

And many people are the exact opposite of you.

I spent 4 years away in the Army and have regretted my return ever since. Life circumstances keep me here and I don't hate it like I used to, but if I could I would leave in a heartbeat to go back to Smalltown, USA.

NYC is crazy expensive, but it IS easy to live here if you don't drive (I never learned). Also there's enough people around to find your niche socially if that's your thing (not me, i'm a hermit these days). But you can be a hermit in NYC and not get harrassed like you might elsewhere. In so many places people are all in your business, I feel like here no one gives a crap. Which is good and bad. I've been here 16 years so I guess I think it's a good thing. Maybe it's different for other people, but I was born in Jersey City and raised in Hudson County so while I was across the hudson river, NYC always felt comfortable to me.

The only other place I'd want to move to is California (southern... San Diego or LA), but I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon, or ever. I'm probably gonna die here and it's fine with me.

As a newbie (moved here in 2014 from the Netherlands) I absolutely love all the points you didn't enjoy.

New York lifer here

Life revolves around money here

Making money is priority

I'm pretty much institutionalized here.

I cant imagine how I would survive outside of NYC.

I dont have any desire to travel outside city limits.

i do feel envious when i look at those homes in the rural/suburbs on HGTV, it's something I'll never have; not because i couldnt afford it, but I would not be able to adjust to living there.

If I was in a position to move to the Carolinas I would, in a heartbeat.

The employment climate here sucks.

NYC works for me. However, the only issue is real estate. Buying real estate is going to be a challenge.
