I can understand why my bill is always anywhere from 250-450 every month. I live in a 850 sqft apartment and leave out from Mon-Fri from 7:30 am and don't get home until 6. I don't have a ton of electronics but my bill is always very high.
Do you have electric heat you have to pay!? See the VERY informative heating thread on this page!!! Very good reading if you want to learn more about this topic. More likely though is that people are breaking into your apartment during the day while you are work and having electric blanket parties.

Do you pay for your own heat? Have central air, use a dishwasher, have a washer/dryer? What type of light bulbs are you using and what do you leave anything plugged in all day.
Do you have your own meter? Sorry my last post was kinda snarky... What kind of building? 2-3 family? big apartment complex? New luxury (those will be the worst)?

None of those appliances. I don't really know what kind of bulbs. I have covered lights. When it blows I just call my super. I leave everything plugged in. I have a power cord in the living room with TV, xbox, wifi, printer.
My son leaves his ipad to charged in his room. My tv and laptop in my room. I don't really feel like that's more than normal people have.
Yeah, none of that would explain your ridiculous bill. Did you skip out on a previous apartment where you are paying back payments that are now pro-rated into your new residence by any chance?
Frist, examine your bill or bills to see if they are based upon actual or estimated usage. If the latter then contact ConEd to get them to send someone to physically read your meter.
If and or when ConEd cannot obtain access to read electric meter for any given month, the system will generate an estimated bill. This does not apply to persons on special plans like level billing.
Since estimated bills are just that, based off historical usage they tend to be "off". Once the meter is actually read however adjustments in the form of credits or payment due is made.
If the bills are not estimated, that is shown as actual usage something does not seem right. Can see if you were running your AC for a good part of the day or some other appliance the generates or removes heat, and or perhaps running an energy sucking large television all day. But for a small apartment that no one is home a large part of the day your bills seem quite high.
You may also wish to have ConEd check to make sure someone has not tapped onto your meter/power supply. It has been known to happen.
