Most American Jews I know are against these "settlements". The Israelis are litterally bulldozing people's homes and playing the WW2 card. They are as bad as the Nazis.
Yes, but most American Jews are NOT against Israel controlling the Old City, which is in East Jerusalem. (This was part of the recent UN resolution, for Israel to leave the Old City/East Jerusalem. Not gonna happen.)

It wasn't an "illegal land grab". Israel took control over the West Bank and Gaza in 1967 after 3 Arab countries declared WAR on Israel. Israel won the war and pushed the Jordanians out of the West Bank, and Egypt out of Gaza.
Had these Arab countries not declared war on Israel, Israel would not have taken over these lands.
Israel unilaterally withdrew from Gaza several years ago, and...we all know how that turned out.
The Palestinians are in control of Gaza, there are no Israeli troops there, and instead of establishing a normal independent state there, the Palestinians turned it into a Hamas controlled rocket-factory for launching attacks against Israel.
So forgive us for not expecting much better if Israel were to withdraw from the West Bank.

Perhaps you should be more humble and you might have more support (you not Israel) and World Opinion does matter - evidence the reaction from Bibi to the UN vote. The US is not about to abandon unilateral support of Israel but the month before the new President-elect takes over provide an opportunity to reflect on the last 4 years of necessarily combative relations between two loyal allies (and don't think the vote isn't a payback in part for that absolutely ill-advised trip to Washington).
1- Ottoman empire had the area since 16th century.
2- an Arab uprising and the british expelled the turks out during WWI
3- British and French occupied the territory
4- in 1948 there was a civil war: Arabs and Jews uprising against the british. The jewish people gained most of the land while the arabs kept some parts.
Since then it's been all the same. Arabs and jews fighting for the piece of land, with jews having control of the area.

Well a lot ( and growing number) of people no longer believe it's in America's best interests to defend the illegal settlements that even Israel agreed to halt.
Yet it's American Jews who are funding the settlements. Each time there are enough funds banked, authorization is given to build. And who makes up a majority of the residents? Americans with dual citizenship. And what is one of America's duties to its citizens? To protect Americans in foreign lands.
