A growing mega city with a crumbling infrastructure and corrupt city government agencies makes for interesting times later on. Pretty soon even the rich have to get on line and wait to take turns for restaurants and shopping because of overcrowded city.

I think he meant another 10-15 years away from widespread deployment.

Uber and Lyft are testing self driving cars too, so this should change private transportation in cities around the world. At least the passengers in them won't be struggling with driving traffic.

US is not the world's most populous city. Mexico City has 26 million. NYC is small in comparasion.

And I'm saying he's wrong. Freightliner isn't making that investment to wait 10-15 years. There's a huge payoff to the trucking industry to get rid of drivers, even more than the taxi industry. Expect huge pressure to get automated trucks on the road.
