It took NYC nearly a hundred years to build 3 stations. Who's going to lay down all of that track when there' s a greater need for expanded service in Brooklyn and Queens.

Who pissed in your corn flakes this morning? Rent too high?? Consider moving to where I just came from: Florida. Transplants from NYC are welcomed?? Really, it's like half the state's population.
Alternative never built proposal from Curbed
What part of the bolded statement are you disputing exactly?
Why should there be? We're already the boro with the highest median income and highest percentage of home ownership. Why would we change that for a means of transportation that only attracts more rubbish?
Excellent points. For all of the garbage thrown at Staten Island, it has a median income HIGHER than any other borough (including Manhattan).

1. It wasn't a proposal from Curbed. They dug up an old proposal from the city archives.
2. Who would be dumb enough to post such a thing?
3. Transplants are welcome in NYC but please refrain from outing yourself by posting dumb Curbed articles.
4. If you take Curbed seriously, go jump off the Brooklyn Bridge.

Poor comprehension of the English language, eh? Obviously this is not a proposal by Curbed. It's an article on Curbed about a never built proposal to connect Staten Island to Manhattan by train. (It's sad, really, that I have to explain the difference to you.)
I see we're probably not going to have any constructive conversations, so let's end this. I wish you a good life.
It is wildly uneconomical. There are vastly more important routes with higher potential ridership that could be built throughout the city for a fraction of the cost of a subway line to Staten Island. That isn't to say one should never be built, but if no one is pushing for the Utica Avenue Subway or the Northern Boulevard Line or an extension of the N/W to LaGuardia (ignore Cuomo's idiotic alternative proposal that is likely to die a death by obscurity) or, for that matter, Phases 3 and 4 of the Second Avenue Subway, certainly no one should be pushing for a subway to Staten Island.
