My theory on all this is that NY State Governor Cuomo is trying to kill two birds with one stone by getting his DNC backers to work to (1) get rid of DeBlasio whom he deeply hates and (2) make sure Clinton doesn't challenge him on a third term as governor so he can position himself to make a run for the White House in 2020.

Unfortunately for Cuomo, he's just as (ir)relevant as George Pataki and the same obscurity awaits him

I would believe this more if there were a clear early frontrunner for the '20 Democratic nomination. At this point it's completely wide open. I think Jill Stein will jump in, and try to grab the Sandersnista vote (I think Bernie will be too old to run himself.) But that leaves the centerist vote up for grabs. Cuomo might shoot for that.

I agree. That is why she stunk as a Senator for NYS. Most NYer can't recall her doing much for NYS. Only thing anyone here can really recall was the post office thing. Also there is evidence she was in the background during 9/11...barely

Having said that, Deblasio is such a doofus, he is setting a low bar that fumbling and stumbling Hillary can probably out perform him

Up until the election I didn't even know Hillary was a Senator for NY.

She'd be damn good, but one of the worst aspects of the American mindset is that stepping back, considering something "less" is unthinkable.

So, for instance, even if Obama or Bush were considered to be the most brilliant possible choice for Vice President, it wouldn't happen.

I hear Zuckerberg is making a run at the 2021 presidential election or 2020, dont know. He apparently is doing a speaking tour round the the country. Maybe he can run for mayor instead and get some experience.

Ivanka could do better than mayor of NYC. She's a close confident of her father, and her husband officially has a position in the Trump administration. Ivanka could do something in Washington, or continue with her business initiatives.

Then again if she does run for mayor, maybe I'll vote for her. I'd have to hear her pitch.

I honestly don't think she's interested, and I think de Blasio will get reelected because seemingly no one else wants the job.

If Ivanka wants a political career for herself in the future, then running for mayor of NYC is the last thing she should do. No NYC mayor has had a successful career in national politics after being mayor.

Trump became President with NO political experience. So why would Zuckerberg waste his time with mayor of NYC? Has any NYC mayor ever gone anywhere politically after being mayor? Giuliani's career certainly STONEWALLED after being mayor of NYC.
