Comment would probably have been more effective if you eliminated the last word. Especially since high risk behavior when on drugs is pretty universal and not limited to any one group.Some even think drugs themselves are high risk behavior.
Almost doesn't matter whether the actual death comes from asphyxiation,stabbing or overdose.
You wouldn't have made the same kind comment if referring to OD deaths of young men on SI would you?

Those were massive quantities of drugs. Maybe this guy had gotten fired from his job and maybe was dealing drugs, and then overdosed on what he was dealing?

Addiction has a lot more do to with internal psychological issues than it does with the drug itself. Just because someone has tried drugs doesn't mean that they continue, and some people are casual users (just like alcohol, which in and of itself is a drug).
