I know that East New York was all Italian and Jewish just like Bensonhurst back in the 1940s-50s, however I am wondering if back then, the quality of the neighborhood was as equivalent as Bensonhurst?

I know East New York no longer has any white people and it is 100% Black and Latinos, although 75% Blacks.

As for Bensonhurst, there is still a lot of Italians and Jewish people, but now also has a lot of Chinese, Russians, Arabics, and Mexicans all mixed in together.

I was just wondering if anyone knows and/or had opinions.

Bensonhurst isn't my favorite neighborhood. IMHO it's gritty and not very pleasant-looking.

I think in the 40's and 50's East New York was a better neighborhood than Bensonhurst was at the same time.
Bensonhurst has never been great I don't think. E NY was.
