I have a question about the HPD housing lottery. When the management office requests verification from your employer do they verify your income or just whether or not you are employed there? Do they go by the income on your pay stubs and tax return or does the employer have to state what your salary is?

Ok thanks. I guess I will have to pass on this hpd interview. They called me but I work for the city and my current income puts me above the income bracket. It has gone up since I applied :-(

always try. you never know what will happen. these people make tons of mistakes (though usually to your detriment). what they are supposed to do and what they actually do are frequently very different.

Go to the interview -- it's good practice. Even if you get turned down this time, you'll know what to expect for other developments you might qualify for.

I went for an interview and they asked me to sign an asset verification authorization form for my checking and savings account. Does anyone know if they will actually follow through with this verification? Will the bank respond to this verification? What if the bank's response is slightly different from the information I provided, yet I am still within the qualification limits.

Yes, they will. What you gave them might differ bit from what the bank has, just because of the time factor. Your bank won't release a thing without your having signed a release, and even then, many still won't. Or they'll call you to verify that you've authorized this. As long as your assets are within the required range, there shouldn't be a problem with some variation.

They absolutely will - without a doubt!

If the bank's response is slightly different, the developer will ask questions only if it has to do with extra deposits or a much larger amount. I had to explain a $60 deposit - in writing!

What if the discrepancy is $2,000. I willfully deleted 2k of deposits, which was a big mistake because I thought the 2k would disqualify me but after the interview, I realized that It wouldn't have.
