what say you deblasio naysayers now? pat lynch is rejoicing with glee

The NYPD’s largest union has tentatively reached a contract agreement with the city, sources told The Post on Tuesday.
The terms are “similar” to those of other city workers, a source said.

The majority of the municipal unions have received 10 percent raises over seven years and a $1,000 ratification bonus.
The executive board for the police union, the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, voted unanimously Tuesday to send the proposed pact to its “contract committee,” which will then decide whether to put it out to the masses for ratification, sources said. But the move is strictly a formality, and the contract will go up for a vote among the rank and file, a source said.
The officers have been working without a contract for five years.

The agreement provides retroactive increases of 1 percent for 2012; another 1 percent for 2013, 1.5 percent for 2014; another 2.5 percent in 2015, and a 3 percent raise to kick in for 2016, the mayor said at an afternoon press conference.
Those pay raises are in line with those given to the other uniformed services.
The deal also includes promises from the city to support legislation to fix inequities in the NYPD disabilities.

Why are you so thrilled about this news?

NYPD has been without a contract for some time now and this is a mayoral election year. Thus obviously something had to be done and with the city's coffers bursting with money de Boob has run out of excuses.

Crime is down and by most accounts the city is seen as quite safe. Do you *REALLY* think BdeB wanted to face a barrage of negative PR from the police union and elsewhere over his failure to give them their due under such circumstances.

Bla didn't want the NYPD hanging over him like a Sword of Damocles going into the Mayoral election, so he cut a deal.
