What other reasons, besides that they want money?
This is from my observations but things that are open to the public in NYC tends to get vandalized and abused/trashed. I think it is easier to walk in off the streets for anybody, including homeless and other bad elements whereas schools in other parts of the country tend to be in less urban areas. People might need to drive to get there. It tends to keep the riff-raff from going in to a minimum.

You see this with bathrooms also for example. Many places in NYC, you need to be a customer in order to use the bathroom. Public bathrooms are rare.

In other parts of the country, you can easily use bathrooms in most businesses.

The antifa: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackshirts

That's fascism.

I'm that one in a million online warrior who actually means what he says. Today I am working on home improvements and reading intel during my breaks. Lots of good stuff coming through channels lately if you know where to look. I am particularly enjoying the intel that contradicts my belief that the left will be easy to combat once the fighting starts. You don't learn in a bubble. That's how leftism feeds itself.

I'm not a Trump supporter, but Trump isn't a fascist and neither are the protesters. However, violence and looting and arson and vandalism because some spoiled college kids don't want to allow somebody to speak is not okay. It absolutely DOES legitimize the counter-Trump movement, and worse than that, it makes the movement weaker as it pushes away all but the fringest of leftists. They can go on and say how they don't care what people think, but all that attitude will get is a lack of voting support and 8 years of Trump instead of 4.

Again, a nominal fee, some kind of application. To screen out bums and nasty stinky people mainly looking to slum. Both NYU and Columbia are using eminent domain to add to their "educational" fiefdoms. Accepting that entails an obligation to serve the community.

Guys like me really don't take up much space. Mainly, I read, and photocopy things.

Oh, and bathrooms. The lack of public bathrooms is a curse of this town. At my age, I have a terribly weak bladder, and it creates a real hardship. Hospital ER's and libraries are a godsend.

Damn, a massive protest at NYU? I'm sure all those people in Ohio regret voting for him now.

They should be protesting in Trump country. Until then I call them coward. Even here in NYC, there are neighborhoods that leaned towards Trump with houses proudly flying the Trump/Pence flag. But for some reason they rather destroy liberal elitist owned property.

It goes beyond that. Anything done in NY (or CA, MA, NJ, etc.) is a waste of time. They're largely preaching to the choir.

They need to swing the swing states back in there direction. I don't think they're achieving that.

Yep. Basically they're just letting off stream for losing. Sore losers.
