Hello all!

I am leaving NYC and need to sell my entire apartment. I have it posted on Craigslist, but people are proving to be unreliable to coming to look at my stuff when they say they will. Does anyone know of another way to sell furniture, especially good quality sofas?

Thanks!

If you live in a building, slide flyers under tenants door, if you are unable to post in lobby. Hang flyers in neighborhood establishments, laundry, library and such. I moved 8 months ago from NYC and had to get rid of everything. Most things was purchased by people who lived in building. I donated some things to the neighborhood church who was having a bazaar. If you are trying to leave don't oversell your things, list them at prices that buyers will buy. They should fly out the door if price is right.

Does the Pennysaver still exist or has it gone the way of the dodo bird and the 8 track?

Another quick thought. You may just want to pony up the price to place a classified ad in a newspaper. At least the people who contact you via the paper will probably be more reliable than those who use craigslist.

I would not slide flyers under people's doors. I would be really annoyed if someone in my building did that. What people in my building generally do is post a sign by the mailboxes in the lobby. Majority of people check their mail every day so that is a likely place they can see it.

I cannot manage to sell anything, genetic defect I think, so for my last move, I just hauled the items I couldn't use in the new smaller apartment into the hallway and POOF it disappeared.
Some of my neighbors got some nice stuff...including 1000 LP's (tears flowing,) a freezer, a big sofa, carpets, 30 inch CRT TV.
What neighbors didn't want got hauled away by the porters.

You gotta do what you gotta do and trying to sell your stuff while putting up with all the other aggravations of moving is just too nervous-breakdowny for me.
