No. People who move up socioeconomically in NYC purchase property and often move to the suburbs.
Within the city itself, people who are well off purchase homes.
My statement stands. Renting is for poor people, those who haven't established themselves, or who are going to be in an area temporarily.
It's funny seeing poor white people move into a ghetto, and then complain when the ghetto doesn't instantly change. Gentrification can take decades, so you'd either need to able to like the neighborhood as it is, or you need to move. Plain and simple.
By the way, having a full time job does not mean that you're not poor. Some of the right wingers on this forum are a lot closer to poverty than they admit.
If it's true, then where's the proof? You make numerous blanket statements constantly with no evidence, but have such high standards for others...
I have no sympathy for any of the white people on this forum complaining about so called ghetto behaviors. If they think they're all that, they need to move to Midtown or some other well off safe mostly white neighborhood where they can be happy. If they cannot afford that then they should appreciate where they are or move out of town. Either way who cares, these so called gentrifying neighborhoods are a long way away from becoming nice, well to do neighborhoods.

Do you think its only "white people" who don't want to live in the "ghetto"?

It might be lost in the same misplaced folder with that great trillion dollar infrastructure plan he was looking forward to a few weeks back. Probably check under the couch to be sure.

He seems to like to forget about his time in the ghetto in the Bronx...

Sure! There isn't a state in this country that doesnt have its shady towns and neighborhoods. The problem with NYC is, even the shady run down areas still costs an arm and a leg to live in.
Nothing cool about paying 2800 month to live in a 550sq ft box with a view of a brick wall and step outside to the sight and stench of trash to then enter the subway system to commute to/from work while fending off rats and having to once again deal with the stench of trash, sewer and the homeless guy camping out inside the subway car.
To each its own but the cost of living in NYC wasn't worth dealing with the subpar quality of life for me.
Sorry you had to live in those type of conditions when living up here, but good for you for making the move and being happy now. Wish some of these miserable posters would take your lead.
As for rats, Florida has their fair share. Especially by the intercoastal, and those homes are big money. Another thing about Florida is that the third world looking areas tend to be closer to the beach (east of I-95) too. So the nicer houses tend to come with worse schools and more crime.

He's a liberal, not a Trump supporter.
You can use web technologies on this forum to find earlier posts on this web forum following his excitement over the massive infrastructure investment that was coming. There are a few methods to do so such as the "search" bar or by clicking on his name and looking through his posting history. This forum can do those things because it stores a lot of posts that people have made in the past using what's called a "database" which is like a little electronic filing cabinet that can store a lot of files! The amazing thing is that it's set up to do so without having to hire a real person assistant to categorize or to search through these. With just the very tools you're using now to post on this forum, you can be your very own digital file secretary!
Yes, the facts that I stated about that Whole Foods being ranked the WORST in the entire city is "illogical", along with the overpriced Gristedes. How "idiotic" of me to also say that Lex and 3rd are generally dirty on the UES just like the South Bronx. You think that money makes an area better than another. It clearly doesn't.
Oh good god. The way you argue is amazing. The pivoting and evading. Carry on.
Given the fact that NYC is one of the richest cities in the world, the condition of many of the neighborhoods don't reflect that. Even some of the richest parts of Manhattan are overrun with homeless and filth
My wife and I moved down to Florida last year and our quality of life has improved tremendously! The cost of living in NYC was no longer worth putting up with its poor quality of life.
We're currently renting while looking for a house to buy. We pay $1050/month for a 2br/2bath with our own laundry room in a wonderful gated community. Pool, jacuzzi, gym, dog park, 2 assigned parking spots, etc.. Never in a million years can you get what we have anywhere close to NYC for what we pay. Not to mention, we're only 15 minutes from some of our nations best beaches! Wife works from home and my commute to/from work is 20 minutes each way. No tolls, parking fee, etc. Life is great! NYC is in our rear view forever.
Glad you're happy but the truth is, you just end up running into a different set of problems.
Watch out for the crocs
