Do you read anything into the timing of the De Blasio all-clear? (radio)

I thought I'd ask a separate specific question here.

By a fluke, the mayor was scheduled to be on NPR/WNYC radio the morning the news came out - in fact, just a matter of minutes after the announcement that he was cleared.

Do you think there's any meaning to the timing, such as a connection with the Preet Bharara firing? Someone on the radio suggested that P.B. was making a show of pursuing it, but with him gone, they abandoned it. My own thought was that with P.B. gone, the department was worried that Trump would appoint someone so rabid that they wanted to avoid subjecting De Blasio to that kind of harassment.
