So you think that he intends to teach there? Or that he is going to be formulating the curriculum?
Do you think you need to be a doctor to open a charity that saves starving children? Or do you just need to donate the money?
Carnegie Mellon university, one of the top universities in the US. Founded by Andrew Carnegie, a man who had 5yrs schooling total in his whole life. An uneducated man. But a man who had smarts and became fantastically successful - and decided to give something to the community.
Notably, Andrew Carnegie did not teach at the University he founded. Which wouldn't be a surprise to any one who wasn't a moron. Oxygenated or otherwise.
Really and you know this how?
You don't know what the people on this board do for the community.
Helping out the community doesn't just mean with money!
No one said all that. Your insecurities are showing.

No, I just think he's a hypocrite that doesn't really give a damn about education, and that's why I think it's a joke that he's opening up a school. You lead by example. If he really was all about education, he would've gone much further than he did. How do you expect children to actually take you seriously when you act the way that he does? Actions speak louder than words.
He portrays himself as a thug and has made a career off of it, and now suddenly he's supposed to be this messiah? Give me a break. The guy is a fraud. This is nothing more than a publicity stunt. He loves being in the spotlight. He's an attention *****. When you think of thug, do you usually think of a highly educated one? Street educated yes. Book smarts... No. So he's sending mixed signals.

At the end of the day everyone wants to pretend to be a better person than they really are and what better way to do that than philanthropy. He's not the first rich hypocrite and won't be the last. Just be grateful for the good that these people do, but everyone's absolutely entitled to their opinions especially when backed by facts.
A man of color tries to do something positive for his community, what does America do? ATTACK HIM! You people are sick and pathetic
Not a man of color... A thug that's a fraud. Seeing how he's robbed his community for years, what he is supposedly giving back in return is a joke.

Given the choice of 1) Combs donates 0$ and 0 support to a school, or 2) Combs donates >0$ and gives >0 support to a school, I'll take #2. Good for him. Doesn't mean I suddenly think of him as Mother Teresa or forgive everything/anything in his past, but doing those things is certainly better than *not* doing them. It's not a get out of jail card though, nor am I going to suddenly sing his praises. Definitely better than doing nothing. And I'm not signing up my kids.
I laughed out loud at that one. An uneducated man opening up a school. That isn't helpful. That's hilarious and an oxymoron.
Gotta disagree with you on this one. Opening the school isn't the same as running it. His money and connections have probably helped cut through the red tape nonsense involved in this - to open a charter school, you need financial backing AND a strong board of directors. As long as he is just providing the money, but has recruited a qualified team, I am all for it.
