Hey guys!
(I'd post this in the Work & Employment section but I feel like that is for more general advice, I am looking specifically in NYC and since it's such a competitive market, I'm posting here instead!)
As the title says, I'm hoping to gain some insight from fellow NY'ers who has lived here a while (or maybe new as well?), on ways to land a job in the city. How do you go about finding work?
I'm a young professional and just relocated to the city last summer (company transferred me) and while I like my company, I feel as though I am no longer growing/developing. I've been here 3 years and just ready for a change. I started my job search about 2 months back, applying to roles online but I want to take a more pro-active approach since it is SO competitive here. I am also interested in getting in the tech start-up companies, which makes it even more niche.
My network pool here is kind of limited since most of my friends are all in different industries.. and I feel like networking events from meet-ups are kind of "fake" in a way.. someone is always trying to sell me something first thing
What have you done that was successful? I'm def willing and open to suggestions and if you know a networking event that is worth going to, I'd be up for it.
