Over the past several months I have been following inside sources that the FDNY is to open the filing period for entrance exam No. 2000 from April 1st-the 24th. I went onto the DCAS site this afternoon to look up how to start the application when I saw no link hinting towards an up coming exam. The only link was for filing period for the 2012 exam. anyone know if this will be updated during the week as it's only the start of the weekend?

No... FDNY Hazing has happened since the beginning of time. Hell it has even been shown in movies. Just like in college fraternities and other fraternal type groups.
But now it happened to a black recruit and he felt "disrespected" and got a lawyer. And he made it a "Because i'm black" thing. Go figure...
All some people want is that easy $$$ without having to work for it. Why run into fires when you can feel "disrespected" on day one and run to a lawyer and KNOW the city will settle out of court for millions when you have a socialist running the city.
I received quite a few calls/emails about the exam (I still have a NYC telephone area code and my home of record is still in Brooklyn). The pay after 5 years is good, but I'd be taking a significant pay cut in the period leading up to that (I already earn 6 figures). Don't know if that's something I'd like to do, but I'm open to it. I'm one of the minority recruits they're going after I guess. There's no doubt that I'd do extremely well on the exam. Only question is whether I can make time to take the test/what I'd do if I get an offer.
