These are just proposals in Albany at the moment. De Blasio is not yet in board, but probably because he is running for reelection. After he is reelected he'll be pushed by the anti end mass incarceration activists in this.
That is a very misleading title.

I couldn't agree with you more. Which is why enactment/enforcement of prostitution should differentiate between males and females. Female prostitution is an entirely different thing from male prostitution, and should be handled differently as well (much more strictly in fact).

Kids around weed, asking what is that sweet/sour smell, and liking the smell? Having kids is more important than smoking doobies out in the open. Would it be ok to stick needles, snort blow in public? People need to be orderly and show class.

Prosecute women for prostitution has to happen, not fair in the case of exploitation, but they need to speak up.

The men involved, from steerers to door muscle face little reprocussions from the law. This is where the laws need to be changed. An illegal at the door of a ***** house, or handing out business cards should get deported for exploiting their sisters!

Legalizing it will only condone the behavior. Have the Pros work in legit brothels, out in the Boonies only, but continue to arrest and criminalize this practice in the city limits. It is an epidemic , usually involving abducted runaways, immigrants, junkies, very low self esteem peoples with mental problems. the most desperate and vulnerable. Could be your sister, aunt, or mom, you get it?

As for smoking in public, NO WAY!. it is just like peeing in the street, or drinking in public with your shirt off. I dont need to see or smell that. Blowing some weed around my baby carriage, really? Legal in your dwelling or a hookah bar only. Use hookah bars for Buddah Bars, is nyc ready for Coffee Shops? In public, at the park, no way, just like having a hard drink, outside a bar, you still gota keep it out of sight. Have some dignity man!

Where prostitution is illegal it breeds trafficking, also where it is legal but the government doesn't bother to regulate it. Where it is legal AND where there is governmental oversight - trafficking rates are considerably lower in enlightened countries. In addition, prostitute health is much higher in those locales also due to regulated interactions and health screenings. Its never going away - so it should be fixed.

Put it under oversight by legalizing it is a much better way to go.

Its preposterous the prostitution is illegal anyway. Its one person paying another for for satisfying a basic human drive. You wouldn't make going to paying for & eating food prepared by someone else illegal.

Safety, wither from corner boys doing gunplay or from sex/human traffickers is a human and civil right. It's one thing to reform the criminal justice system from one focused on incarceration to one focused on rehabilitation. It's another to simply condone behaviors little by little simply because enforcing human decency is "racist".

Both things should be legal nationwide. Prostitution is legal in many 1st world countries, including quite a few in our own hemisphere. All you do is make pimps and street walkers illegal which takes the profit motive out of it for someone trying to hustle or take advantage of girls.

If a girl wants to hook out of her house with an ad online that's her business and her body. I fail to understand how the govt thinks they can tell a woman she can't.

They smoke cigarettes and really what's the difference? Hiding behind the kids is no excuse, your kids may grow up to snort blow or do whatever and if that's what they want to do it will happen regardless. So if that's what you're concerned about, talk to your kids about what they'll be doing. Jailing people because people like you cannot control their kids in the way they want to is ridiculous.

No. Gangster dealt alcohol when alcohol was legal, and when it was LEGALIZED, that removed the criminal element out of the picture. Where prostitution is LEGAL there's no issue with human traffickers as one can approach those LEGAL prostitutes.

Plenty of people prostitute themselves without pimps.

In places where marijuana is LEGAL, you buy it from licensed dealers and again there is no criminal element. Even in NYC, one can buy medical marijuana from LICENSED dispensaries.

Drugs were used for thousands of years, as coca, marijuana, and other narcotics have been found in ancient human remains. None of this was this kind of problem until the 20th century US decided to outlaw everything. Just as the war on alcohol failed, the war on drugs failed.

You could only stop it by indefinitely locking up every user and there simply are not the resources to do that. It's gotten to the point cops no longer bother dealers unless there's a shooting. It's not worth it to the cops to try to do an arrest unless someone is a victim of a violent crime, because if the dealer is hurt or killed the cop will be personally sued, the city will be sued, and the cop will lose his job and have his face all over the news.

Totally correct.... criminalizing prostitution is very similar to prohibition, it doesn't work and actually causes more crime. Currently with it being illegal this enables the pimps and traffickers and gives them a profit motive, and the girls under them feel trapped. They would rather be owned by the pimp or trafficker than go to jail.
