In a piece by Nick Paumgarten in The New Yorker, there's an aside about Mayor Ed Koch's view of Donald Trump:

Ed Koch hated Donald Trump, and vice versa. Trump called Koch a “moron,” and Koch called Trump “greedy, greedy, greedy” and “piggy, piggy, piggy.” The Times recently reported on papers that had been dug up by Pat Thaler, Koch’s sister, which contained some previously unpublished remarks by Koch: “Donald Trump is one of the least likable people I have met during the twelve years that I served as mayor. It is incomprehensible to me that for some people he has become a folk hero.” The report also contained Koch’s reaction to Trump’s request to have his name put on Wollman Rink, after Trump had spent three million dollars to renovate it: “I’m surprised he doesn’t want Central Park renamed for him.”

I'm fairly sure Donald Trump does want Central Park renamed for him.

Ummmmm, ok but nobody cares what liberals think of Trump. Did you actually think by posting this it would suddenly change people’s minds about liking Trump? Sorry boo boo!

It is true. Donald Trump is one of the most despicable people in the world, not just this city.

except that he's not any more despicable than the next politician, but keep pushing the narrative that's he's Adolph Hitler's long lost baby. That really worked well for you in the November election

Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos also on the list of most despicable people. What's the point?

Your comment shows exactly what's wrong with Republicans and/or Conservatives. You are willing to dismiss and ignore half the country. Unlike you, Liberals did care what Conservatives thought of Obama. Your comment illustrates the problem with the country. But you're right about one thing: People who refuse to pay attention to all the horrendous facts about Trump, his sexual harassment, his cheating people who worked for him, his threatening to sue right and left (700 lawsuits!), his astonishing ignorance, his endless lies - you're not going to change your mind over one amusing anecdote.

Koch was a terrible mayor but is remembered fondly (by some) because of his New York personality.
