- moderately priced, but hoping for a good showroom. I went to Lowe's, which had neither displays nor salespeople, and to Home Depot, whose models on display were small and chintzy looking. Where would you suggest, in Manhattan?

I would go back to Home Depot and buy that triple mirror job that used to be $149. It's pretty big.

Its funny I just purchased one. As you mentioned I went to Home Depot, but wasn't happy with the price. I did find the same cabinet on Wayfair cheaper. Then I just did a google search and found Amazon had it, for even cheaper! I saved almost $100 bucks on the same cabinet. If your a do-it-yourself type, just take your measurements and do a search online. I feel the Manhattan showrooms for both Lowes & Home Depot are very minimal, but can give you an idea for a good search.

SHayLove,
Did you do a surface mount or a recessed model?
If recessed and large, how did you deal with any intervening stud?

I did the surface mount. Old cabinet I got rid of was a surface. Although my husband is a contractor, he was too lazy to cut and insert it into the wall like I wanted. I think i will eventually for it sticks out too far for my liking.

It's pretty but kind of small. Yes, it would look better recessed.

I bought mine online from Pottery Barn. Because I was looking for specific features.

Not sure how many showrooms there are around you'll probably have to poke around a bit online.
