OR

2) having to live with a growing number of destitute people who have government social welfare programs cut off / reduced, and yet keep reproducing and have a high crime rate that you have to live among (unless you are on the extremely wealthy side)

Cut that check to planned parenthood or call your representatives and tell them that defunding planned parenthood is pure stupidity.

As a personal anecdote, a friend of mine from college grew up in homeless shelters and then public housing. A large number of his friends from that period didn't do so well, but he ended up being a college-educated fine pastry and bread maker (though he could've gone the academia route had he wanted) and is financially well off now and very much a contributing member to society. What was the key difference? His mother realized that she's not in a state where having more kids made any sense so she used contraceptive (from Planned Parenthood) and made sure she never had another as she already had limited time and money to rear her one child. Now her kid is well off and has been on a good and steady path, a path where he's about to start a family and this time it'll be in a comfortable upper middle class environment he can afford, and he now partially supports his mother as she's trying to improve her education and work experience to get better jobs (she's also been out of public housing for years at this point and it's unlikely she'll ever be there again).

Your friend spoke with you at length about his mother's contraceptive choices? #unpresidented (sic)

Sounds like an awesome idea to me! My step son pays $1500 a month for day care for his 3 year old, I'm sure he would love this he would only have to pay a fraction of that for a few hours after preschool lets out.

Because welfare kids and immigrants are the current enemies of the state...keep up...lmbo

next week, they'll be railing against the moozlambs (sic)

There are 73,000 UPK 4-year old spots, at an average of $10239 per child ($747 Million). Now he wants to drop another 700 million of OUR money for free?

This buffoon is just unbelievable, SHAME SHAME SHAME on anyone who votes this assclown back into a second term. The ruination of NYC will be on your hands

Ummm...actually...if you have read the research on early childhood education, you would not have made this statement. My son was diagnosed with autism and thanks to early intervention, he has basically risen to the same level of comprehension as his peers without an autism diagnosis. Maybe read one of the reports on Head Start or the research by the ABCDERIAN group...and not this forum...although, there is some great information available here...

I'm sorry your child has difficulties but we don't live in a socialist society where everyone's costs are paid for at everyone else's expense. I would sooner support selective care of autistic children then a blanket 3-year old daycare program which is what this is

Walking past the museum along West 81st the other night, noticed the area has attracted some really suspect characters lately, especially women with children. Come to find out the city is using a hotel across from the part to house welfare/homeless.

That is one downside of the UWS, you can't fling a dead cat without hitting a SRO, homeless hotel, shelter, half-way house, etc... The area is infested with them, that and public housing.

Well, if you're talking about Planned Parenthood, then yea, people's personal experiences do pop up.

I agree for the savages popping out kid after kid living on welfare. Personally, the policy should be if you want welfare you have to allow the government to sterilize you. I have one kid that I am paying for. I didn;t sign on to pay for some illegal alien's kid or the savage that slings dope all day outside the projects while he knocks up pig after pig from not being able to control his animal instincts to spread his seed in the jungle.

Could you be any more of a stereotypical grumpy conservative?

You sound like you haven't been spreading your own seed. You need someone to give you some loving.
