I have been trying to read up on all the information on the different lotteries that people have heard back from. It seems that most of the people who are beginning to move in now were from lotteries back in November. I am about to get married in June and my wife is going to be working at a non-profit in Harlem, but we will be having to live at my school upstate until December so that I may finish school. I applied to as many lotteries as I can so that I can live closer to my work (long island) and also for my wife's work.

I have log numbers of 10xxx,87xxx,30xxx,8xxx with out any CBs. Should I keep my hopes up that by the end of the year I may get something or should I plan on finding a month to month place beginning next year? Thank you for all the help.

Hope is pretty much all you can go on right now.
Plan on renting as if these affordable lotteries didn't exist. If you DO win one, then adjust your life accordingly.
But COUNTING on winning one is a bad strategy, because most do not.

Month to month is okay but signing a one year lease is better and gives you more choices (and security.)

I hope you didn't indicate on any of the applications that you were a full time student. That might cause problems.

His spouse is working, so I think he can be a full-time student, especially since his studies will be completed in December. But the above advice is excellent. It's highly unlikely you will get a lottery apartment. Your numbers of 8,000 and 10,000 would not be bad if you had community preference, which you don't. It doesn't even seem as if you live in NYC at this moment, and that makes it even harder. Absolutely do NOT count on this lottery. Proceed to look for an affordable apartment through the normal channels. Sign a lease if you need to. Once you're settled, with a NYC address, which includes the outer boroughs, then focus on the lotteries if you want.
