I feel the opposite, lol....the cold, for me at least, is so unbearable and depressing. there's so much more to do in the summer...

I hate summers here. The humidity and the terrain are a terrible mix. I do enjoy the variety of the 4 seasons but we don't always consistently get 4 seasons. Many years we get long winter and summer with very short spring and fall. So overall I do think SoCal has an edge. Weather has a huge effect on mood and I know for me personally I would be much more active in SoCal weather.

Yeah it can be hot but Anaheim is only 4 degrees warmer than NYC on average than Anaheim in July. 106 is exceptionally hot for Anaheim. Like record breaking hot.

Plus downtown LA is only about 1.5 degrees hotter than NYC on average in august. But NYC feels much hotter because of the humidity. Anaheim is hotter than most places. Santa Monica for example is 12 degrees cooler than NYC in august.

Anaheim was 102 degrees on August 15th, 2016. In August 2015, Anaheim exceeded 100 degrees on 3 days.

For better weather I will take San Francisco any time.
But the threat of THE BIG ONE would put all of Coastal California out of the running for me. A friend lived through the Northridge quake and he said he would never even VISIT the LA area.

Dry heat is much more comfortable than humid heat. Can't even breathe well when it's humid.
