The lack of dishwashers in NYC is a problem. I left for the exurbs, and I want to go back, but I don't know if I can do life without a dishwasher again. It really makes life so much easier.
The NYC government should do a one-time stimulus where landlords who install dishwashers can be partially reimbursed.
No one seems to have gotten the point of Harlem's thread. It was to post your inner thoughts not just reply to all hers.
Mine today was, they hire MTA workers with flash lights to work on the platform, to get people on the train during rush hours, therefore are spending more money for their salaries. Why not just add more trains, run more often.
how is it that any day, at any time, at any station, and any specific train, is there some crazy guy yelling or being erratic and scaring everybody around him. i see it at least once a day. that means they are everywhere. one walked right by me screaming once and i almost had to knock him out in self defense just in case he directed the yelling at me.
My random thoughts: The signage in NYC in aesthetically pleasing and iconic. It's part of why you can tell you're in NYC as soon as you cross the border.
Some random thoughts:
Why does anybody think they're cool for writing their name in some ****ty font on some guy's wall or on the back of a delivery truck? It looks ugly and people who do this are idiots and should have to clean it up.
I've never lived in a legit brownstone, but I think they are really cool for some reason.
I almost never take the A or C trains, but when I do, it's these weird aluminum can looking train cars. Do any other lines use these?
Inwood Hill park is really nice. I read that it's the last natural forest on Manhattan. For some reason, that's appealing to me.
I think people who habitually litter should be shot... out of a cannon... into the sun... then given a ticket
The best part of being in NYC is the huge variety in food you can get at any time.
The worst part is beggars and long commute times. But those aren't so awful in perspective compared to what the problems were 30 years ago...
I think far downtown Manhattan, like all the way at the bottom, is way more interesting than Times Square or Midtown.
Where were all of you in the 1980s? All this crap was happening on a much more prolific scale....only difference is that people didnt mind because things were cheaper. I'll overlook shootings when my rent is $650 for a 3 bedroom, not $1,650 (not me personally, but an example of today's attitude)
