My husband never learned how to drive, and I haven't driven in almost a decade (after an accident). Vacation and driving doesn't go hand in hand in my mind.
Options are limited without a car I know. I'll think about it.
Sounds crazy but check rates on uber or lyft for a long distance trip
Otherwise you're limited to plane, train, or greyhound bus + taxi
Provincetown, MA. No car needed once you are there. Lots to do including beach walks, swimming, hiking, nice upscale restaurants, art galleries, biking, whale watches, etc. You can fly from Westchester on Cape Air. Or take bus to Boston and then high speed ferry.
Niagara Falls and/or Toronto! One can take Amtrak from NYC. In Niagara Falls one can even walk across the border (if staying on the American side which seems to be cheaper and no passport necessary) and in Toronto there is good public transportation.
Also one can go down to Atlantic City (NJ) by bus or out to the Hamptons (Long Island) by LIRR and stay in these places for a few days even without a car.
Another options might be Baltimore, MD or certain towns in Cape Cod (MA) which one can get to by bus from NYC?!

Thanks very much Henna. This actually sounds perfect. I'll look into the flight, but I don't mind taking Mega or Bolt bus to Boston and then going by ferry.
Amtrak has vacation suggestions based on their routes. Take at look at their website and options based on trains leaving from Penn Station.
A friend had taken the train to Chicago and loved the experience. I thought about it for us, but wasn't into it. It's a good idea to look on their site for other destinations that would interest us though.
Take the fam to Gallegher's 2000 and have yourself a heck of a time...
A family fun tidday vacation?
